Balnarring Pony Club History

From its humble beginning at the Balnarring fire station with its first meeting on the 21st August 1985 with a handful of local residents wanting to create a safe and friendly environment for their children to ride, Balnarring Pony Club Inc was formed.

BPC first held its rallies at the Merricks Station Estate Grounds and from there we went to the Mornington Peninsula Pony Club Grounds before we established our home at the Woolleys Road Reserve around 1996.

The Mornington Peninsula Shire gave us a lease on the grounds but we had to establish everything, from driveways, toilets, clubrooms and arenas.   The grounds were just old car and motor bike tracks and a dumping ground for rubbish.  The Committee of BPC sourced a toilet block and club rooms and organised the cleaning/clearing of the main areas and established the cross country tracks.

Since then the Club has grown and improved on the grounds to where it is today.

We now have a Grade 1 to 5 Cross Country Course that held the Pony Club Victoria State Horse Trials in 2023.   2 Large grass areas and a sand arena 60 x 27 fenced.   We have 44 yards for our members with plenty of parking areas.

We are grateful to those that went before us and had the foresight to establish a community, family friendly club that welcomes riders of all abilities and disciplines.   The friendships they make now will last a life time.
