Volunteering

Wallangarra Riding & Pony Club depends heavily on the voluntary contributions of our members.  The main voluntary contributions from members include:

  • Committee Roles
  • Rally Day Duties
  • Event Preparation and Running on Day
  • Fund Raising Activities
  • Team Manager Roles
  • Grounds/Club Room Maintenance
  • Busy Bees

Committee Roles

The Committee is made up of members and friends of the club whom have been elected at the Annual General Meeting. The purpose of this committee is to ensure that our club is run safely and in accordance with the Pony Club WA guidelines. The committee oversee the day to day running of the club, which includes organising the rallies, maintenance and improvement of the club grounds, payments of bills, organising and running fund raisers and generally making sure that our club offers its members a well rounded program.

The Chair of the Committee is our Club President, Nick Wells

Fund Raising Activities

Wallangarra Riding & Pony Club have a number of fund raising activities during the year.  Members can be asked to contribute Raffle Prizes leading up to our ODE Event, Training/Competition Days - usually Dressage or Showjumping, Hire of the Cross Country Course, the Club Canteen and Bunnings Sausage Sizzle days.

Member families will be asked to assist with fund raising activities.  This assistance would usually mean contributing time and enthusiasm to assist in the running of these activities.  The Bunnings Sausage Sizzle in particular will involve asking members to nominate time to a Roster of Duties on the day.

It is a condition of membership at our Club that families commit to assist with the running of at least one event and attend at lease one Busy Bee.  Families that have not completed their duties and have not attempted to catch up will be put on the waiting list under consideration for membership in the following year.

Events / Team Manager Roles / Maintenance

Events - A very labour intensive and time consuming task is preparing the Cross Country course for the ODE. Preparation starts several weeks before the event with the planning and maintenance on the course. Familiess are often engaged with working on the Cross Country jumps during rallies.  The Club also holds a Busy Bee prior to ODE events.

Team Manager Roles - Our riders cannot attend Pony Club WA State Championship events without a Team Manager taking responsibility of managing the riders, organising parents to complete assigned helper duties and ensuring the riders have the Club Competition uniform/saddle blankets etc.

Grounds / Club Room Maintenance - Fletcher Park is a A Class Flora & Fauna Reserve.  Therefore we have a number on restrictions placed upon us in respect to ensuring the protection of vulnerable species and what improvements/clearing we can perform on the grounds.  Families are assigned maintenance duties (cleaning gutters, raking gum nuts, repairs to cross country course, etc).
